In the early 2000’s Matthew McCaslin and his brothers Danny and David, already accomplished players in the sport of professional putting, discovered an intriguing tournament, the USPMGA Masters in North Myrtle Beach, SC.
Matthew’s first tournament in the USPMGA would be the US Open, in which he defeated USMPGA Hall of Famer Bobby Ward in a playoff for runner-up honors.
Two decades later, Matthew also known as “Gruder” by his friends, would become the 14th inductee into the USPMGA Hall of Fame as one of the all-time great players in the organization’s history.
Matthew was inducted into the Hall of Fame on October 9th, 2021 as part of the closing ceremony festivities at the Masters.
Matthew boasts a lengthy list of career playing accomplishments. Most notable are Matthew’s four US Open titles, which he captured in 2004 and 2005 in North Myrtle Beach, 2008 Boothbay Harbor, ME and 2014 in Oceanport, NJ. Matthew’s other career victories include the 2005 Disney Fantasia Florida Open, the 2008 Sedona, AZ Open, two Wisconsin Red Putter Opens, and three Branson, MO Opens.
Additionally, partnering with his brother Danny, Matthew has captured five US Open and three Masters team Championships. Also Matthew has also had multiple runner-up finishes in the Masters.
In addition to his stellar on-course career, Matthew has served as a model representative of the USMPGA. Matthew proudly supported and promoted the USPMGA through multiple media outlets. Featured in articles in the NY Times, Washington Post, Wall Street Journal, Men’s Health Magazine, a variety of local newspapers as well as in radio, television and internet interviews. Matthew always has shown and shared his love and passion for the game.
Mattew is grateful for the love and support of his family, friends and fellow players throughout his historic career, in particular from his wife Beth and two daughters, Bella and Lauren.
