Red Putter, Wisconsin

Congratulations to the 2017 Red Putter Pro Champion James Sullivan!

The 2017 Red Putter Pro Tournament started with a tribute to Bob Yttri, former course owner and tournament director who passed away in April. 58 people played in the 16th annual tournament on Saturday, August 5th.

James Sullivan of Saint Jacob, IL, scored a 3 round total of 106 to claim the championship trophy, $2000 cash prize and the Red Jacket. Sullivan, age 17, has played the tournament for six years, this is his first win. He scored a 34 in each of his first two rounds, which tied for Best Single Game with Paul Nelson and M. J. Buckley. Sullivan won the tie-breaker on the Bear hole to win the trophy for Best Single Game.
Matthew Kraus, of Menomonee Falls, WI, took home the second place trophy with a three round score of 110. There was a tie for third place at 112. In a tie-breaker that lasted two holes, Paul Nelson, of Fish Creek, WI, claimed the third place trophy.

Next year’s tournament will be held on Saturday, August 4th, 2018. Players can now qualify for next year’s tournament, by shooting under par on the course. Several have already qualified and have their names on the Red Putter Pro Board.

The next event at The Red Putter will be the Frostbite Open, held on New Year’s Day. This is an open tournament with no need to qualify

2017 Red Putter Pro Tournament – Saturday, August 5th, 9am

It’s tournament time again at The Red Putter Miniature golf! This is the 16th year for the tournament and will sadly be the first without course owner and tournament director Bob Yttri. Bob started the tournament in 2002 when several regular players were bragging about their low scores and he said they had to prove it! He added the stipulation that players first had to qualify to enter and the Pro Tournament was born.

The top prize for the Red Putter Pro Tournament is $2000, one of the largest for a miniature golf tournament! Pros will be coming from near and far to compete for the prize money, trophy and of course the coveted Red Jacket. This is the only Professional Miniature Golf tournament in the area and draws an between 80 and 100 players from all over the country.

Golfers may enter The Red Putter Pro Tournament for a fee of $30, and must pre-qualify with a score under par on the course. Registered players practice for free the week of the tournament.

Sign in begins at 8am Saturday morning, with tournament play beginning at 9am. Three rounds of golf are played, followed by a delicious lunch served by the Mink River Basin.

First Place wins $2000! plus a trophy,
pro-shirt and of course The Red Jacket!

Second Place – $500, trophy and pro-shirt
Third Place – $100, trophy and pro-shirt
Best Single Game – $100, trophy and pro-shirt
